MT64 VS Nitrocharger Sport (What's the difference?)
Our famous Nitrocharger range has a double-tube design, unlike the MT64 for which we have opted for a single-tube design. The MT64 boasts an impressive internal diameter of 64 mm, giving our engineers all the latitude they need to perfectly adapt the shock absorber to any vehicle platform. The result is a drastic increase in your vehicle's control and comfort. Thanks to the large internal oil reservoir, the MT64 delivers consistent damping performance over a wide temperature range, allowing you to drive for as long as you need. The MT64 also features an anodized aluminum cylinder, a material that dissipates heat 15 times faster and is 1.3 times lighter than steel, while providing better corrosion resistance.
Is MT64 adjustable?
The Old Man Emu team has fine-tuned the MT64 to suit each vehicle and offer multiple shock absorber options for your off-roader. Our OME engineers did all the fine-tuning to create a range of shock absorbers compatible with multiple vehicle configurations in terms of accessories and load. In particular, they relied on the adjustable spring pad, which allows you to modify the height of the vehicle as you add or remove accessories. If you're looking for a reliable piece of equipment that requires no further adjustment, the MT64 is for you.
What's the difference between Twin Tube and MonoTube Suspension?
As the name suggests, the double-tube design features a second tube inside the damper to separate the oil from the nitrogen gas. It's a proven technology that works very well, but has its limits in terms of oil volume and adjustability, as the presence of a second tube reduces piston size and restricts overall internal volume. A single-tube damper is a single structure with a piston floating at the top of the cylinder to separate the oil from the nitrogen gas. This drastically increases the amount of oil inside the damper. As a result, not only is the loss of efficiency limited, but the overall size of the piston is increased. This increase in size gives our engineers all the latitude they need to fine-tune your vehicle.
What does MT64 mean?
The MT64 shock absorber owes its name to its structure. MT stands for "monotube", referring to the single-tube design of these shock absorbers. 64 refers to its impressive internal diameter of 64 millimeters (2.5 inches).
Why Silent Blocks in Natural Rubber?
Thanks to their unrivalled noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics, silent blocks limit the stimuli sent to the driver by suspension components. Integrated into a double-link silent-block design, the MT64 achieves heights of robustness without sacrificing comfort.
